Match Results against Swindon Civil Service on 16th August 2009

The weather was overcast but humid, with the sun tryng to break through. As it approached 2pm we began to wonder if our fixture captain had once again advertised the wrong start time. With the opposition arrive just before 2pm it became clear the match was due to start at 2:30pm.

The captains went out to the middle to toss the coin, as usual our captain lost the toss! Upon returning to the pavillion to tell the team that he had lost another toss, there were mutterings about a useless tosser! The captain's had agreed to play a 35 over game with a maximum of 7 overs per bowler. Swindown Civil Service elected to bat first.

The opening bowling of Brian and Andrew, was excellent limiting Swindon Civil Service to just 15 runs for the loss of 0 wickets off the first 8 overs. However, as the batsman settled in they began to score runs, but their wickets fell in slow succession.

AJ's season of juggling catches before they safely were held, finally ended with AJ dropping one of the opening bowlers, the only excuse was that he lost sight of the ball at the crucial moment after running round the field to catch it!

Swindon Civil Service scored a total of 143 runs for 4 wickets off 35 overs.

After tea, Grittleton opening partnership of Rob Ward(facing) and Anthony Josey (non facing) survived the first few overs, but the wicket of Rob Fell, leaving Grittleton on 14 for 1 in the fifth over!

Grittleton struggled to stay anywhere near the required run rate, scoring just 93 all out off 31 overs.
