Match Results against Combe Bisset on 31st May 2009

Grittleton posted a creditable 238 for 8 thanks to an excellent 86 from Mickey, 49 from Hugh and 44 from Paul. Mickey had remembered that he enjoyed the bowling of Coombe Bissett - when he scored a ton there 2 years ago - and set a short boundary, which he peppered regularly with 10 4s and 4 6s.

Hugh bowled with venom, taking 2 wickets, but unfortunately had to leave the field before finishing his spell. Coombe Bissett were always near to the run rate, but a nail biting finish was in store - Scott, taking the wicket of their top scorer on the last ball of the penultimate over, making the match interesting. Mickey took it upon himself to bowl the last over, with them needing just 4 runs. A single, and a scrambled bye or two left the scores level with the last ball to be bowled - a risky leg bye saw the opposition home.

A good close game, played in good spirit on a lovely summer's day - just what cricket should be about. We look forward to visiting their ground for a return match next year (but apparently the pavilion still isn't finished!)
